Databases play a major role in both academic and commercial environments, and more commonly nowadays, in the domestic environment.
They can be used to store, model and retrieve data in systems from as complex as the World-Wide Web to as simple as storing your information about your DVD collection.
Learning databases also offers many links to other areas in computing such as systems analysis and programming.
This introductory course will lead you through the very basics of what data and information are, and the distinctions between them. It will teach you to be able to develop very simple databases of your own, and expand your knowledge as to the power of databases in today’s society. You will learn to use applications software (Microsoft Access) and will develop fully functional databases.
On the course you will learn:
• Basic database theory
• Designing and creating simple databases
• Database forms and reports
• Querying a database
Who is this course for
This course is intended for anyone with no or very little previous knowledge of databases, and wishes to learn about them. It should be emphasised that the course starts from “scratch”, and is aimed at complete beginners.
Whilst a working knowledge of using a windows based computer would be beneficial, it is not essential as our team of specialist tutors are carefully trained to care for the “absolute beginner”.
