This course is for individuals wishing to pursue fashion marketing, buying or merchandising as a career and who want direct entry to the employment market. Rather than focusing on the creative aspects of design, it concentrates on the equally challenging task of promoting and selling the finished product. Students explore real-life case studies of specific market options, merchandising and buying of the fashion product. Contact with professionals in fashion, public relations and marketing agencies will place the educational experience in context.

Entry:

Higher secondary education (or equivalent) or mature student status with relevant experience
A portfolio of work will useful but is not compulsory

Qualification:

Cavendish College Diploma & Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma in Fashion and Textiles

Duration:

One academic year

Assessment:

Continuous assessment based on coursework projects at staged intervals. A personal research project combining marketing and fashion design forms a major part of the course in preparation for employment

Course commencement:

PROGRESSION

On successful completion of this course, candidates will have the knowledge, experience and confidence to work in the fashion industry. The course also provides preparation for entry to Higher Education at FDa or BA level. Students progressing to Higher Education are supported through the UCAS application process.
