This course aims to teach the students how to confidently compose pictures both at the time of taking the photograph and in the darkroom.
Students will learn technical aspects of a manually operated camera, accessories and dark room equipment and will have opportunities to experiment. Historically, the art of photography is a relatively new phenomenon.
However it is important as an art form in its own right and as an effective way of visually researching other projects where there may be little time to make sketches. The course will give a general introduction to the essential principles of photography. Students will be encouraged to develop their technical knowledge in order to tackle a range of creative photographic practices.
